EVENT DETAILS

Event Overview:

These are intended to be very low-key events with no competition, as many of our participants have never been on a track before. These events allow drivers to stretch their legs and explore the limits of their vehicles in a safe and appropriate environment. The emphasis will be on vehicle dynamics, driving technique, car control and overall safety. Most participants will get between 4 and 5 hours of track time, more than double what many time trials or race weekends offer.

Experienced Club Racing and SCCA instructors will be on hand both days to assist you. All participants are encouraged to utilize each of the instructors throughout the weekend. It is also a good idea to ride along with the instructors in their own cars, which is very educational and a lot of fun.

The Basic Schedule:

Saturday will start with a technical inspection for all the vehicles. This is required before vehicles can be driven on the track. Problems like loose batteries, bad wheel bearings and proper wheel clearance will be show-stoppers. If you are unsure about the condition of your vehicle, have an inspection and service done before arriving at the track. To emphasize, you will not be allowed on the track with issues that compromise the safety of yourself, your passengers and other drivers.

During the tech inspection, each of you will be given a sticker to put on your car. These will be used to recognize who is in what group. They will be Yellow (beginner), Green or Blue (intermediate) and Red (advanced). The sessions will run in 25 minute rotations starting with the Intermediate group(s).

Once that is completed, instructor introductions and a quick overview will follow for all drivers. From there, run groups will divide up to begin the weekend. For our beginner drivers, classroom time will follow to discuss the basics of traction, corner apexing and track etiquette. This will provide a general overview of what to expect and how to react along with some basic do's and don'ts of track driving. Instructors will ride with beginner drivers for the first half of the day Saturday, numbers permitting.

If you feel that you have been placed in the wrong group and wish to move either up or down, please bring it to the attention of the event staff.

Driver Requirements:

Unlike most car club events, which are competitive and can require harnesses, fire extinguishers and often roll bars, the only safety equipment we require is a Snell 95 (or newer) helmet. There are no clothing requirements, but long sleeves and long pants are recommended as you will be driving with the driver's window down at all times.

Food:
There will be bottled water available throughout the day and a hosted lunch*. Bring something extra for yourself if you think you will need it. Energy bars, fruit and trail mix are a great idea as the tracks are sometimes closed to entry/exit during the run groups.
